Maintenance

Waxed Wood Care:

• Waxed woods offer enhanced protection from damage.

• Remove dust from waxed wood using a barely damp lint-free cloth (ideally micro-fibre). Dust, when not removed, will become abrasive and can damage the wood

• Wipe up any sticky areas or spills quickly using a barely damp microfibre cloth. There should not be enough water in this cloth to leave a residue

• Waxed wood requires waxing instead of oiling for maintaining its appearance. Wax (like oil) will add a lustre, cover scratches, and add a layer of moisture repellant as well as heat protection

• When waxing has been neglected or burn marks have occurred, waxed wood will require light sanding

• Use and apply a wood wax (tin or spray can) with a lint-free cloth (micro-fibre) 3-4 times a year. Follow the grain of the wood when rubbing it in

• * Chemical & disinfectant sprays should be avoided at all costs. *

• Always consult the manufacturer's instructions before treating your wood as the correct treatment will vary according to the nature of the wood and the processes used to finish it.
